Rep. Eric Swalwell, the California Democrat who is much despised by the right, and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, also of California, reportedly had a heated argument toward the end of June. According to a report on the shouting match, it entailed Swalwell calling Speaker McCarthy a “p***y” and Speaker McCarthy threatening to fight Rep. Swalwell.
According to the The Daily Beast report on the conflict between Speaker McCarthy and Rep. Swalwell, it started during the June 21 vote in the House to censure Rep. Sche, a measure proposed by Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida.
The fight started then, with Rep. Swalwell telling Speaker McCarthy, “This is pathetic.” Continuing, he said, “You’re weak. You’re a weak man.”
During the back and forth on the House floor, Rep. Swalwell also allegedly called Speaker McCarthy a “p***y,” which led to the Speaker of the House getting visibly furious, with one member of Congress telling the Daily Beast that a vein was popping out of his head and another saying he coolly stared down Rep. Swalwell.
Things then escalated the next day, when Speaker McCarthy saw Rep. Swalwell and reportedly told him, “If you ever say something like that to me again, I’m gonna kick the sh*t out of you.” The Daily Beast’s source, telling the outlet about that confrontation, said, “They were in each other’s faces. Basically nose-to-nose.”
Rep. Swalwell reportedly said, “Are we really gonna do this?” Speaker McCarthy responded, saying, “Call me a p***y again, and I’ll kick your a**.” Predictably, the two ended up not fighting it out and instead having a tense back and forth.
Rep. Swalwell was censured because of his relationship with Fang Fang, a Chinese spy, while he was involved in local California politics.
During an interview on Fox News, Paulina Luna discussed the House Oversight Committee’s work to hold Rep. Schiff accountable for his behavior during the Trump years, particularly his lie about Trump and Russian collusion that led to terrible relations with Russia, years fo investigations and roadblocks to the Trump campaign, and wasted intelligence resources.
Speaking on that, she said, “I will speak to Adam Schiff. Maria, I have a privileged resolution that I’m bringing to the floor, and we are going to fine that man 16 million dollars for using his position to lie to the American people and ultimately push something that not only destroyed our country but ripped us apart and I believe, maybe even permanently damaging foreign relations. He is a criminal, and Adam Schiff, you will be held accountable.”
Continuing, Rep. Luna went on to hammer the FBI as well, calling it corrupt, while also calling out Schiff for abusing a position of responsibility and privilege, saying, “And yet, he was privileged to information that not even I or many of my colleagues would be able to see. He used that position. He absolutely aided and abetted a corrupt FBI into investigating a sitting president.”
