The lack of patriotism and pride in America has become a startling, fashionable trend among the left. Liberal elites in Hollywood, politics, music, and sports have taken every opportunity to signal for virtue and spread dangerous narratives portraying America as racist, sexist, homophobic, and a generally awful place to live.
Subsequently, there are growing trends that should be concerning. Suicide rates are up amongst young people, birth rates are going down, and many people have simply given up. While one could hardly blame them, as folks are constantly being bombarded with bad news and the narrative that we hate immigrants, gay people, etc., it is a trend that should be concerning to anyone wishing to see America restore the American dream.
Of course, most people know this simply isn’t true, and the American dream is still alive, though on life support thanks to the divisiveness of the liberal left. However, with the presidential campaigns about to heat up, the rhetoric is only going to get worse.
Friday, during a Twitter Spaces interview with GOP hopeful and Cincinnati businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, Elon Musk ripped into the leftist narratives as he and Ramaswamy discussed the American dream and how to save it.
Musk commented on the anti-American rhetoric he labeled as “insane“: “We should be proud to be American, and I certainly am. It feels like there’s like a weird, like, anti-American self-destructive element, especially in, like the, you know, elite circles within the U.S. Like, teaching it’s bad to be an American. And I’m like, this is insane.”
Musk, who is himself a South African immigrant, has been an outspoken supporter of free speech and the American dream, even if his track record since buying Twitter isn’t always perfect. Leftists like to point out Musk’s failing, but like America, Musk isn’t perfect.
Ramaswamy, himself an Indian-American that has picked up considerable momentum, even finishing ahead of Ron DeSantis in a recent Florida straw poll, weighed in: “I am genuinely worried that that American dream will not exist for my two sons and their generation unless we do something about it. I did not expect to be running for president, but I saw a field certainly on the Republican side forming where I saw a lot of people who are running from something. I didn’t see anybody who was running to something.”
However, it isn’t just Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy pointing out that America is an amazing country full of hope and opportunity. Fox News’ Steve Hilton, formerly a British citizen, supported Musk and Ramaswamy: “This is the greatest place in the world. That’s the place you want to go if you want to pursue exactly what they were talking about there, the American dream. In fact, the most exciting version of the American dream – the California dream – that seems to have been completely under threat, destroyed in many cases. The chances of buying a house on a normal salary. Now here in California, that’s basically impossible. And so on and on it goes. These attacks on those basics of the American dream that completely right.”
Sometimes it takes the viewpoint of an outsider to point out what should be obvious. While Musk came from privilege, and Ramaswamy is an American-born citizen, their opinions, along with folks like Steve Hilton, should be taken into account. They have actually been outside of America and know what really goes on in the rest of the world relative to the United States.
Vivek Ramaswamy might be a long shot for the GOP nomination, but his message, along with Elon Musk’s, is one that needs to be spread and celebrated.
