Tim Ballard, the heroic rescuer of children who inspired the story of “Sound of Freedom,” is a native Utahn. So, when Mr. Ballard was attacked with vicious vitriol by the left for the “Sound of Freedom” story, Mayor Trent Staggs of Riverton, Utah, sided with him and took a strong stand for Mr. Ballard.
He did so both in a tweet and in a statement to Breitbart News about Mr. Ballard and the vicious attacks on him and the cause to which he has dedicated his life, rescuing children from sex traffickers around the world.
In the tweet about the film, post to Twitter on Thursday, the 20th of July, Mayor Staggs encouraged everyone to go see the film and learn about the horrific reality of the child trafficking networks, a reality against which Mr. Ballard has fought despite the attacks levied against him by the media and traffickers.
Mayor Staggs said, “Alisha and I were finally able to see #SoundOfFreedom last night. I encourage everyone to see this incredible movie and become educated on the horrific reality of human trafficking and commit to do all in our power to stop these atrocities. God bless @TimBallard for his courage and dedication to rescuing those who have been enslaved. ‘God’s children are not for sale’!”
In his statement to Breitbart, Mayor Staggs argued that Mr. Ballard deserves praise for having “done more to bring awareness to the greatest humanitarian crisis of our day [the global child trafficking industry] than almost anyone alive.”
Continuing, Mayor Staggs argued that parents across America need to thank Mr. Ballard for what he has done, as he is the one who put his life on the line to travel the world and rescue children, saying, “Every parent alive should be thankful. He has put his life on the line to protect children across the globe and shine a light on the darkest part of our society.”
Further, he said, the “leftist attack” launched against Ballard is “just a sign of the dark times we live in.” An example of that attack comes from CNN, which smeared “Sound of Freedom” and Mr. Ballard’s story as being tinged by conspiracy theories.
CNN’s Mike Rothschild, speaking on that, said, “Sure, and the most durable and the most believable conspiracy theories are not entirely false. There’s something in them that is true, and the rest of it is false. But the believers point to the one true thing and they say, ‘Oh, you don’t believe that this particular thing is true.’ In terms of child trafficking. We know trafficking is real. We know it has real victims. No one is denying that. But these films are created out of moral panics. They’re created out of bogus statistics. They’re created out of fear. And it was something like Sound of Freedom. It specifically is looking at…concepts of these child trafficking rings that are run by the high-level elites. And only people like Tim Ballard and only people like Jim Caviezel, and by extension, only people like the ticket buyer can help bring these trafficking rings down. So there’s a very participatory elements. You’re not just going to see a movie you’re just killing two hours on a hot day. You are helping bring down these these pedophile rings and save children.”
Ending his statement after blasting those sickening attacks on Mr. Ballard, Mayor Staggs said, “Few will ever do more for humanity than Tim. Few will ever risk so much. Those who attempt to destroy him for a political agenda must know that we will not sit silent.”
