Country music legend Jason Aldean showed that he is utterly unafraid of the woke mob by releasing his new hit song “Try That In A Small Town.” In it, Aldean shared his disdain for the left’s proclivity for riots and violence when things don’t go their way.
The theme of the song is laid out clearly in the opening verse, in which Aldean details some of the nastiest things that have happened during riots in American cities in the recent past. “Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk/ Carjack an old lady at a red light/ Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store/ Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya like/ Cuss out a cop, spit in his face/ Stomp on the flag and light it up/ Yeah, ya think you’re tough.”
In the music video, Aldean shares footage from 2020 showing destructive and deadly riots. Aldean then points out that his kind of vagrancy is not taking place in America’s small towns in nearly the way that it does in large cities. Hence the name, “Try That In A Small Town.”
In the chorus, Aldean dares the rioters to try that same behavior in one of the many small towns like where he was raised. “Well, try that in a small town/ See how far ya make it down the road/ ‘Round here, we take care of our own/ You cross that line, it won’t take long/ For you to find out, I recommend you don’t/ Try that in a small town.”
Of course, some on social media swarmed to quickly admonish those that live in small towns, calling them names and degrading their character. One Twitter user wrote, “I live in a small town ..[most] good ol’ boys are too busy beating their wives and crunching oxy like tic tacs to live out this vigilante fantasy…or they are stealing my catalytic converter.”
Yeah that doesn't track here either. More worried about smack-down, NASCAR and beer on the up side, and going on the nod on the downside. Most of the gunplay is between gangs… that song is trying to make it like someone's fantasy small town.

Another user was quick to jump in with more insults directed at those who call America’s small towns home. The user said, “Yeah that doesn’t track here either. More worried about smack-down, NASCAR and beer on the up side, and going on the nod on the downside. Most of the gunplay is between gangs… that song is trying to make it like someone’s fantasy small town.”
Another user was quick to shame Aldean, calling this song “one of the most dangerous, irresponsible videos from a mainstream artist I have ever seen. @Jason_Aldean is openly radicalizing his fans into white nationalist vigilante violence.” He went on to add, “Everyone associated with greenlighting this should be ashamed. Your artist is intentionally dividing Americans against each other and ENCOURAGING the viewer to exact summary justice on people who “try that in a small town” who happen to be Black or a caricature of the “left.”’
