During the same interview with The Blaze’s Glenn Beck in which he ripped into Fox News for the disgusting way it treated his former co-workers, Tucker Carlson went after HR departments in corporations for the deleterious way in which they have impacted America, giving a personal story about his experience with the soulless destroyers in HR.
Tucker began the anti-HR rant by describing the evolution of HR from when he began his career to where it is now, saying that what was originally a small department meant to help people sign up for healthcare has turned into a “grotesque” and “anti-human” instrument of tyranny, repression, and human misery.
Speaking on that, he said: “I’m 54, so I joined the workforce when there were no HR departments. [They were] called ‘personnel,’ and and had a minor role in the life of the company. And the job was like, sign you up for your dumb health care benefits or take out FICA or something like that. HR evolved on the promise that it would meet the needs of humans, human resources. It has made companies far more soulless, far crueler to people, far more at the mercy of lawyers, and the grotesque, anti-human legal mindset that’s really hurting our country, that’s restricting humanity from people and turning them into widgets. HR is, is an instrument of cruelty and force and coercion. And I think anyone who’s working in HR should examine his own conscience and ask, Can I continue to do this? I really think it’s a bad force in America. And nobody says that. But it’s true. I’ve seen it. And I’ve seen it.”
Beck agreed with Tucker, who then launched into an anecdote about his personal experience with an HR department, describing the cruelty and vengeful arbitrariness of how it treated him, despite having no evidence of wrongdoing.
Beginning the story, Tucker said he had one run in with the soulless, petty tyrants in the department and refused to talk to them because of how he was treated. In his words: “I had one conversation with HR my entire life. And I said, ‘I’m not talking to you at all.’ Because this person came into my office and said, ‘You’re not allowed to talk to another employee about something.'”
Tucker then described what sparked the incident and the biblical basis for how he responded to the ridiculous situation, saying, “This person had complained about me so I saw the person — I had never met the person, who had filed complaints saying that I hurt his feelings, or made him feel unsafe because of my opinions. So I run into him, and I said, ‘Hey, here’s my cell. Call me, text me, like if you’ve got a problem, call me.’ Because it is a moral requirement that we take our complaints to one another directly as beings, not through mediating structures, that’s actually a biblical command. It is, you know, so anyway, but it’s also a human command and human requirement.”
Tucker then described how the “HR lady” responded to his attempts to deal with the situation in a human way rather than a corporate way. Predictably, she was unpleased and tried telling him how he was allowed to live his life, a demand to which he responded negatively.
He said: “So I do this, and the HR lady comes in, and she’s like, ‘you’re not allowed to do that!’. And I said, ‘you know, I’m an adult man, and a father and a taxpayer; you are not to tell me who I can speak to.’ And then I use bad language.”
Shockingly, that worked out with him and he never had to deal with HR again: “And that was the last conversation I will ever have with HR. And if there’s nothing else I achieved in my life that I am proud of. I will never speak to an HR department again.”
