Tim Ballard, the inspiration for the box office hit “Sound of Freedom,” recently spoke at a Turning Point Action conference where he detailed a story of meeting President Trump at the White House. Ballard said he met with the former president to discuss his firsthand experience with the human trafficking crisis and its correlation with illegal immigration on the southern border.
At the beginning of the clip, Ballard explains his involvement with the southern border and the fight against human trafficking. He stated he was “A special agent undercover operator on the southern border” and had spent “a total of 12 years working in that capacity as a special agent for the US government Homeland Security.” Therefore, Ballard had intimate, firsthand knowledge of the consequences of not controlling our border.
He then stated how he received a call informing him that President Trump desired to meet him after Ballard spoke with Laurie Ingraham. “And I was on Laurie Ingram talking about the border and on the way back to the hotel that night I got a call that President Trump wanted to meet me in the White House. And I was like, what what’s going on? I had no idea there was a it was a big conference and media was gonna be there,” he said.
Ballard claimed he met Trump in the Cabinet Room at the White House, where the two discussed the need for a border wall. “And I didn’t get any warning of that I just showed up unshaven and I thought as a personal meeting but no everyone was there and I ended up they put me right next to President Trump in the Cabinet Room,” he said.
The former special agent told President Trump the truth, not sugarcoating the crisis stemming from the openness of the border. Ballard explained a couple of horrifying cases of children being kidnapped and trafficked through the border.
He outlined how a more secure border with a wall would be a significant deterrent for human trafficking that occurs through the southern border, where these criminals would be forced to go through ports of entry, leading to a greater chance of being apprehended. This would protect children from becoming victimized in such horrific ways.
“And I just told the truth about what was happening in our border states. See, it seems so simple to me. You build a wall, you rescue kids, you have no wall kids get hurt. That’s it. It’s very simple,” he said. Referring to a story of a young girl who had been kidnapped, he said, “And I said this is a crisis. Those who say this isn’t a crisis, because this girl told me had there been a wall that I was forced to go into, my traffickers would have been forced to go into the port of entry, then maybe likely, I could have been rescued and that’s it’s that simple.”
Ballard truly emphasized how much of a crisis this is, noting that it should not be downplayed. One disheartening piece of information that Ballard shared was that he lost nearly 1,000 donors to his organization just for meeting with President Trump. Ballard founded Operation Underground Railroad as an anti-human trafficking activist. See the video of his speech below.
