Jim Caviezel, who rose to fame following his role as Jesus Christ in “The Passion of the Christ,” spoke on a podcast about the upcoming film “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection.” Caviezel teased fans that the sequel to the twenty-year-old smash hit film could be a two-part series in an interview with Shawn Ryan, host of “The Shawn Ryan Show.”
Caviezel announced that work on the upcoming sequel has already begun. When Ryan asked if the production had begun, Caviezel responded, “The writing, yes. I asked him (the film director), ‘Would you be ready to go in January.’ He said, ‘Yeah maybe.’ I said, ‘How about at the end of the fall?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, maybe.’ September? He said, ‘Yeah, maybe.”
Caviezel laughed after revealing that this wasn’t the first time that he had received this kind of unsure answer from “The Passion of the Christ” team. He says that the last time this happened, the call to begin shooting came much sooner than he anticipated, indicating that the film may begin production far sooner than many fans and industry reporters predicted.
Caviezel then dropped the biggest bombshell of the entire interview, saying, “It will be the biggest film in history. It might be two films, could be three, but I think it’s two.” Caviezel dropped that line so quickly that many fans had to rewind to hear precisely what he said.
There is no doubt that the next installment of “The Passion of the Christ” saga could become the biggest film in the history of movies, but for there to be more than one installment on the way is groundbreaking news. Back in 2016, work had reportedly begun on the sequel to the pinnacle of Christian film. With Gibson and Caviezel back on board, expectations for the movie will be high.
Caviezel told Fox News Digital more of the same in a recent interview, speaking, “It’s happening on the writing side. I asked him about three dates, and he gave me a maybe on all three of them. So, I have to see where he’s at. I know he’s going to do it.”
With such an exciting film in the pipeline, Hollywood execs are surely watching closely to see if this new wave of the Christian focused films will continue to see a surge over the coming years. As much as the bigwigs in Hollywood love to push their own ideologies, l if money can be made, you can be sure that they will jump ship and begin creating family-focused Christian films for Americans to enjoy.
As the right has shown with the Bud Light boycott, voting with your wallet is a very real thing, and the following example of that could very well be the film industry after the predicted success of “The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection.”
