According to the regime apparatchiks on CNN, now you’re not even supposed to question the actions of a law enforcement agency…so long as that law enforcement agency is the FBI and you’re questioning it for its seeming partisan bent and attacks on or unfair investigations of conservatives.
That came on the Wednesday broadcast of “Inside Politics” on CNN, when the network’s Chief National Affairs Correspondent, Jeff Zeleny, described it last “a little depressing” that the GOP base and its members of Congress are questioning the FBI over various schemes it has been involved in.
During his appearance, Zeleny first described it as “mind-bending” that Republicans are now the ones willing to stand up to federal law enforcement, as normally is the GOP that mindlessly backs the blue, but now the roles have been reversed and the left supports the FBI while the right despises it.
As Zeleny said when making that point, “It’s stunning really when you think from the campaign cycles gone back — gone by, that Republicans are questioning and sort of anti-law enforcement. It’s just — it’s sort of mind-bending that we are at this point, but we absolutely are.”
Continuing, he correctly noted that it is because of Trump that many in the GOP distrust the FBI, though he framed that as a bad thing while many on the right see it as the scales falling off their eyes as they realize what the FBI is really up to thanks to its attacks on Trump. In any case, Zeleny said, “And at every Republican campaign event, every Republican candidate really running for office at any level, there is this skepticism built in of the FBI, of the government, of law enforcement, because of Donald Trump.”
Then he described it as “a manifestation of the Trump era” that the GOP was questioning FBI Director Christopher Wray during the recent hearing, saying, “I mean, that’s what we’re talking about. So, this is a manifestation of the Trump era here. Look, I’m not sure anything was accomplished this morning in terms of advancing the ball at all with the — aside from just question after question being asked about this.“
Continuing, Zeleny then argued that the FBI is really just full of “hardworking Americans” and so it’s unfair for the GOP to go on the warpath against it, ignoring that outside of the Trump incidents there are numerous other cases of FBI abuse of conservatives, such as the Richmond office’s attempts to investigate Christians and investigations of parents furious with school boards.
Zeleny, attacking Republicans for their newfound disdain for the FBI, said, “It’s almost a Republican candidate has to do this now. They have to question the FBI, but never mind the people who are actually working in the FBI, there are — a couple of them get headlines for some of their roles in investigating the former President, but the vast majority of them are hardworking Americans, many Republicans, some Democrats, etc., some non-partisan, and it’s a little depressing, I think.”
