Archeologist Believes He Found The Remains Of Biblical City Sodom

Exciting news was announced to Christians worldwide, as an archeologist claims he found the remains of Sodom, an ancient city written about in the Bible. Speaking to Joel C. Rosenberg, host of The Rosenberg Report, Trinity Southwest University’s Dean of Archaeology Steven Collins is consistent with the characteristics of the ancient city Sodom.

According to Collins, the site is littered with remains that were burned in some “flash heat” event, the kind of which the Bible indicates befell the city in Genesis. Speaking on The Rosenberg Report, Collins said, “As soon as we get a few centimeters into that matrix, this piece of pottery, the shoulder of a storage jar, is facing up at us. And it looks like it’s glazed.”

According to Collins’ study, this site must have been destroyed by intense heat quickly; he said that the site would have been “wiped out in the blink of an eye.” This, along with the location of the archeological site, strongly indicates that this may indeed be the city of sin that was so prominently featured in the Bible.

Collins claims that this site follows the “25 known pieces of geography that you can triangulate between to take you to the city of Sodom.” If both findings are proven to be true, the archeological survey as a whole would seemingly place an entirely new slant on the argument for the truth and verifiability of the Bible.

It is amazing news to hear that such a miraculous event as the story of the city of Sodom, where God took action to wipe an entire city off the face of the Earth, could be proven true by science. For many years in recent human history, science and religion have run counter to each other, with one often being told that one ought not to intermingle one with the other.

Now, as this evidence comes to light, science and religion can work in harmony to help us better understand the truth of God’s word. For some users of Twitter, this finding serves as a wake-up call to Americans who are beginning to stray too far from the light of the Lord. One user noted, “America has most likely surpassed the hideous acts that happened there from what we see daily. When will it be enough for God?? If you survive it…don’t be Lot’s wife. Don’t turn around for another glimpse.”

Though it remains to be seen if the city can in any way be proven to be Sodom, rather than just suspected to be the infamous city of Lot’s days, hopefully this discovery will reignite interest in ancient cities and the wars and peoples of Biblical days. Further, this discovery could lead to the study of Gomorrah, the city destroyed alongside Sodom, which would likely provide more confirmation that this is the infamous city and shed more light on what life was like in those times and how cities in that region of the Middle East developed…before they were burnt to a crisp, that is.
