Tucker Carlson recently broke his silence and addressed his controversial firing from Fox News for the first time. The former Fox News host sat down with Russell Brand and discussed the topic. Carlson and Fox News parted ways in April of this year, sending shockwaves throughout the media.
The news surprised many as Tucker Carlson was the most popular host at Fox News and drove a significant portion of the channel’s ratings. Carlson is now running his own show that is uploaded exclusively to Twitter. See the interview below, where Tucker gave his thoughts on his departure from Fox News in the segment with Russell Brand.

Carlson prefaced the conversation by saying that in the media industry, he has always maintained the expectation that he could be fired, given the nature of the business. “The media and you know, you say what you think there’s an expectation that you could get fired. So, I’ve always had that. And I’ve always tried to take the long view not just on media but on life on graves, go and visit it. In the end. I always think that,” Tucker said.
Tucker went on to explain that he was surprised to have been fired as he was not entirely expecting that, but he also maintained that he was not completely shocked by the news. Carlson stated, “I was surprised I didn’t, you know, expect to get fired that morning at all in April. So I was shocked, but I wasn’t really shocked.”
The conservative news personality also maintained a sense of humility and harbored no negative feelings toward his former employee. Interestingly, he maintained that he doesn’t know exactly why he was fired from Fox News and offered no insight as to why he may have been asked to leave the company.
“And I wasn’t mad. It’s not my company. And when you work for someone else that person reserves the right and in fact, has inherently the right to decide whether you work there or not. And I don’t know why I was fired. I really don’t. I’m not angry about it. You can believe me or not, but I think you can feel that I’m not,” Carlson said.
Several theories have emerged, offering a narrative of why Tucker was fired from the news channel he was thriving at. According to reports from Carlson’s biographer, his exit was due to reporting on January 6th and the exorbitant Dominion lawsuit against Fox News.
However, another theory is that Tucker Carlson’s recent speech at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Gala rubbed Fox Corporation Chair Rupert Murdoch the wrong way. Reportedly, Carlson’s religious overtones made Murdoch uncomfortable. Furthermore, Carlson allegedly had dinner earlier this year with Murdoch and his fiance at the time, where a religious conversation ensued that displeased Murdoch too.
Sources claim that Murdoch “doesn’t like all the spiritual talk.” Furthermore, shortly after the dinner with Carlson, Murdoch broke off the engagement with his fiance. Famous conservative figure Alex Jones claimed this theory was closest to the truth as to why Tucker was ousted from Fox News.
