WNBA player Natasha Cloud ruffled feathers last week when she made some disparaging remarks about her home country. In the wake of the landmark SCOTUS decisions, since Cloud is apparently more qualified to make these rulings than the Supreme Court, she took to social media and criticized the decisions roundly.
In a Tweet, Cloud said: “Our country is trash in so many ways.” Particularly bad timing, considering the looming Fourth of July holiday. Also particularly misguided since Cloud ignored the obvious fact that black people don’t need extra help from white people or the government to succeed and that a private business should be able to decline to provide a service if it violates their religious beliefs. The Supreme Court recognized these things, and their decision incensed Cloud.
Rash, knee-jerk reactions are understandable when people are passionate about a subject, but often folks will step back, cool off, and think about a more calm, measured response. Not Cloud. In fact, after social media went ballistic on her, she doubled down.
In a series of Tweets, Cloud said: “I’m blessed to travel the world for my career. I’ve been in plenty of countries that I would have my human rights, healthcare, free/assisted schooling, don’t have to fear mass shootings or white supremacists, don’t have to be concerned about the highest maternal mortality rates. Less police murders, no mass incarceration based on race, adequate minimum wage, rights to my body as a woman, I MEAN I CAN KEEP GOING.
Enes Kanter Freedom swats Natasha Cloud's 'trash' US take: 'You don’t wanna see the other side'https://t.co/3zwWD8LlSN
No I hate the comments you spew that are so anti American. This is the greatest country on earth. I think you should take up Enos’s offer to go to China.— Nancy Mitchell (@nannugent) July 3, 2023
Indeed she could keep going, but it doesn’t mean she is right. No country on the planet has more human rights than America. Why else would the rest of the world want to be here? As a professional athlete, she had free college and healthcare, and most mass shootings take place in the cities with the strictest gun laws.
Police shootings are another misguided notion Cloud holds. In fact, in 2022, 1097 people were killed by the police. In a country of 331 million people, when you do the math, that’s SIX zeros before you get to a number. That is infinitesimally low. It should also be noted that the police killed 389 white people compared to 225 black people. Not exactly hunting minorities.
Her arguments simply aren’t rooted in reality. In response, Enes Kanter Freedom dunked on Cloud and even made her an offer she likely will refuse. He said: “Just ask your colleague Brittney Griner how ‘trash’ America is. Calling America trash huh? Let me know when your season is over, I’ll buy your ticket and we can go together to counties like China, Russia, IRAN, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, & Turkey.”
Now, of course, Cloud won’t accept. Leftists like to talk a big game but rarely do they put their money where their mouths are. Half of Hollywood would’ve moved to Canada in 2016 if they did.
Kanter Freedom knows a thing or two about how the rest of the world works. He has been an outspoken critic of his country of Turkey, and the human rights violations there. Kanter reported this year that he was placed on Turkey’s most wanted list with a $500,000 bounty on his head. He also has criticized the Biden regime for continuing to work with the Turkish government.
Kanter Freedom continued: “Forget about calling them trash, I would like to see if you can even criticize those regimes!! You and your family members would be thrown in jail, tortured to death, and raped. People have NO idea how lucky and blessed they are to be in a country like America. I’m not saying America is perfect, but trust me, you don’t wanna see the other side.”
Kanter Freedom doesn’t know when her season ends, and most Americans don’t, but perhaps Cloud will take the world tour with Kanter. Maybe a tour of a Russian prison will help clear the clouds from Cloud’s head and help restore some civic pride. She will most likely continue to whine about her country and her perceived suffering in the greatest nation on Earth.
