The police department of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, listed a team of Romanian women who robbed a makeup store. Allegedly, the group stole upwards of $1,500 in products from the store before being caught on security cameras and having their images posted to Facebook in a hilarious “Missed Connections” style post from the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
Hilariously, the Facebook post began by comparing the group to the Kardashian sisters, saying, “It was May 28th and the three of you walked into the local Ulta looking like the Wheat Ridge Kardashians. What do you need cosmetics for– your makeup game is clearly already on point.”
Next, the creative writer with the Wheat Ridge Police Department began explaining all of the details that the police had gathered, including the exact amount of goods stolen. “Your grand total came to $1,443,” it said. “You girls have expensive taste! Which would have been absolutely fine, had you not forgotten to swing by the register on your way out.”
The alleged thieves might have thought that they had gotten away with it since the only images shown were from store security cameras. They would be wrong, however, because the post also details the exact car that the trio sped away in. “You hopped into a silver BMW SUV with your inadvertent freebies,” WRPD said.
In a follow-up post, the department explained, again in a hilarious love-note style post, that the women had been accused of committing similar crimes in other jurisdictions. “Apparently they are comfortable with an open relationship because they’ve had “dates” with several other police departments across the country, most recently in Chicago and now California. But they hail from Romania.”
While the group certainly thought that they could get away with such a brazen attempt at taking advantage of the store, it seems that they were unable to escape the grasp of a California police department that was able to wrangle them in. “Another police department in Cali connected with them first,” said the post. “Where at least two of them are in custody for similar incidents in that jurisdiction. So we will wait our turn. Love is nothing if not patient.”
While many would fall into a fit of sorrow after losing the “one that got away,” the Wheat Ridge Police Department is not giving up their pursuit of the loves of their life. The post concluded by saying, “The Wheat Ridge Police Department and Detective Smith in particular thank you for the worldwide effort to help us locate “the ones who got away.”’
Despite the hilarious lighthearted take on the blatant robbery of a jewelry store, it does highlight a growing problem in America. If the theft has really reached a level of commonplace that police departments are joking about it on Facebook, how will this country ever be able to wrangle the thieves and restore the importance of property in America?
