Members of the House GOP have announced that they will “reinvestigate” what happened on January 6th, particularly regarding what then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi knew about the situation beforehand and find out what exactly happened on that day.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) said that the goal of the committee is to “investigate both sides” of the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and to then “show what really happened on Jan. 6.” Particularly, it aims to do so by turning the tables on Democrats and sending out subpoenas to Democrats like Nancy Pelosi after the Democrat-led January 6th Committee subpoenaed numerous Republicans.
Another Georgia Republican in Congress, Rep. Buddy Carter, said, “I’m gonna tell you the truth: Yes, I do,” when asked if he believes Republicans should subpoena Pelosi. He then added, “This is setting the precedent, and we’re just not gonna lie down and let this happen. There are serious questions about her role on January 6 and exactly what she did and what she didn’t do. And we need to get to the bottom of that.”
Rep. Loudermilk has demanded all the government documents on the day’s events as well, saying, “I am concerned that we do not possess all documents and records related to January 6th that could assist in our oversight efforts.”
Included among those documents that Rep. Loudermilk is demanding are things like a list identifying all officers on duty on Jan. 6, 2021, after-action and after-incident reports from the attack, and video and audio recordings, MPD electronic surveillance unit video recordings, and body-camera footage from officers who dealt with the day’s events.
As they look into investigating the police response to and Rep. Pelosi’s involvement with January 6th, still another Georgia Republican is fighting the regime on the January 6th issue. That would be Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
She has been very vocal in defending the January 6th defendants. Speaking about their treatment recently, for instance, she said, “I tell them all the time. I think it’s an issue you can’t ignore. It’s something that has to be talked about because people are being affected every single day by it. And we heard the testimonies today.”
She added, “So it’s … an issue that, of course, has been talked about every single day since Jan. 6. But we can’t allow a weaponized government to persecute Americans. We just can’t allow it. So it’s something that we have to talk about.”
Rep. MTG’s office recently released a statement on the issue as well. In it, she announced that she is leading an impeachment effort of US Attorney Graves and accused him of subverting the American justice system, saying, “During his time in office, U.S. Attorney Graves has totally subverted the justice system of the United States and facilitated the explosion of violent crime in Washington D.C. by refusing to prosecute violent crimes.”
She added, “Graves is systematically criminalizing political dissent at the behest of his handlers in the White House. By focusing so much effort on the persecution of political prisoners, Graves has diminished the manpower needed to fight crime not just in DC, but all over the country. DOJ attorneys have been transferred to DC just to help Graves wage his war against political opponents.”
She then pointed out his partisan leanings, saying, “His wife, Fatima Goss Graves, is the CEO of the National Women’s Legal Center. She is using her 100-million-dollar business to run a pressure campaign against Justice Clarence Thomas. Matthew Graves and his wife are clearly partisan hacks with no respect for the justice system or the rule of law.”
So, the House GOP is finally starting to use its power to deal with the January 6th issue. We’ll see if they do so effectively.
