Computer guy Bill Gates may be ecstatic to learn that the company he backed was one of two approved by the USDA to manufacture ‘cell-cultivated meat.’ Bill Gates invested into a company called UPSIDE Foods in hopes of creating a lab-grown meat that Gates once said could be ‘very good’ one day. The other company is Good Meat, but they’re not linked to Bill Gates in anyway known at this time. Both companies use similar, yet different, methods of growing lab-cultivated meats and foodies all across the nation are torn on the concept of ‘lab meat’ as some people refer to it.
Both companies are finding ways to cultivate chicken meat and now they’re approved by the United States government and should be allowed to sell their products across the nation. It remains unclear if the products will become a hit or flop after all these years of testing and research into the concept of lab meat. Many are calling this a historic moment, but there’s also many people saying it sounds somewhat terrible to eat meat grown in a lab. Opinions on cell-cultivated meats will certainly be vast across the spectrum of likes and dislikes.
Billionaire Bill Gates isn’t the only famous person dropping investment money on companies like UPSIDE Foods. Other big spenders like Richard Branson and John Mackey (founder of Whole Foods) got involved and invested. If there’s a future for lab meat, then these guys want a piece of the profits. Rich and famous people are often involved in investments of companies doing odd things, but activists seem interested in lab meat concepts too. Some activists believe lab grown meat could help fight global warming, hunger issues, and reduce the amount of mistreatment that animals face before being prepared for the supermarket. But at the same time, it’s not clear if lab meats could make a dent on any social or activist issues in the long run, because many people may stick to real meat and leave the lab bites in the dust.
UPSIDE Foods, invested in by Bill Gates, wants to sell “real chicken meat” grown from “animal cells in bioreactors,” said a report on ABC News. Now the question to ask is this: if it’s grown from ‘animal cells’ that aren’t from chickens, then is the lab grown meat still chicken? The technicalities may need a lengthy explanation from the scientists. Then again, if it tastes like chicken…
Where will some lab grown meats be sold? The report on ABC News suggests that Bar Crenn, a restaurant in San Francisco, will push the ‘innovative protein’ to customers if they’re interested. San Francisco seems like the perfect place to sell lab grown meat. If tourists are lucky, then they can eat lab grown meat outside while watching homeless people defecate on the sidewalk of Greasy Gavin Newsom’s infamous California.
One thing that people didn’t like was when Bill Gates admit to meeting Jeffrey Epstein. That didn’t sit well with many people, especially those in California where Democrats seem to be having a hard time with things. California appears to have fallen by the wayside under Democrat leadership and comedian Dave Chappelle had no problem calling it out. Dave Chappelle talked about San Francisco, the same city that cell-cultivated meat will be available at Bar Crenn, saying:
“What the f—k happened to this place?” he asked.
He told a story about eating at an Indian restaurant in the Tenderloin a few nights earlier, only to have someone defecate in front of the restaurant as he was walking in. San Francisco has become “half ‘Glee,’ half zombie movie,” he said, and he remarked that the whole city is the Tenderloin now. “Y’all [N-words] need a Batman!” he exclaimed.
Will Bill Gates be the first to eat cell-cultivated meat at the San Francisco restaurant? That remains to be seen. If Bill’s willing to invest in it, then he better eat it too!
