FNC’s sole remaining popular host, Greg Gutfeld, shredded liberal views on policing during a recent monologue. According to Gutfeld, a shift to the left in policing practices, particularly as surrounds the release of mugshots, has weakened the ability of the police to get criminals off the streets and turned cities like San Francisco into third-worldesque hellholes.
First, after a brief introduction, Gutfeld hammered the “racism” narrative that surrounds policing, using mugshots as an example. According to his monologue, the left now considers use of mugshots “racist.” In his words: “So you have a guy’s description, and then you circulate it and that helps you catch the guy. It’s insane, pretty awesome, except, well, we really don’t do that anymore. That’s why I bring it up. Mug shots, as you know, are now considered racist, just like everything else is racist.”
Continuing on that point, Gutfeld pointed out how the usual suspects used the post-George Floyd riots and anger at police around that time to drive home their claims about mugshots and one large city, San Francisco, went along with the idea and stopped releasing them. As Gutfeld put it: “Now, you got to remember, after the George Floyd riots, one of the first things to go when we decided policing was evil was the use of mug shots. San Francisco Police Chief William Scott announced it early on they would no longer release mug shots of those arrested unless they posed imminent danger to the public. Now, I know, I know, isn’t that why they’re under arrest in the first place?”
But, despite the anti-mugshot backlash, the same sorts of people that had been arrested earlier were…still being arrested. And so, as Gutfeld put it, “we’re all bigots” because we want thugs, whatever their color might be, locked up rather than free to roam the streets and keep preying on Americans. In his words: “No, they’re under arrest, because we’re all bigots. You racist, homophobic, transphobic, meat eating monster. But yes, apparently there’s compelling research suggesting a correlation between mug shots and a perception of bias. Translation, if a picture was once worth a thousand words, now it’s just four: nothing to see here.”
And what happened to San Francisco after that policy change, after it put the feelings of criminals before the safety needs of its citizens? Exactly what you would expect. Businesses are fleeing the city en masse as those that remain in the city crumble under the weight of constant crime and ineffective policing.
Making the point about what has happened to San Francisco, Gutfeld noted that businesses are fleeing the city as fast as they can get out of it and that those that are stuck in it, such as hotels, are seeing the value of their property plummet as sales continue and buyers are few and far between.
Making that point, Gutfeld said, “Look, there’s no need to recount San Francisco’s horrors, now when they talk about the big one it’s never about an earthquake it’s after a sidewalk pooper eats tacos. The list of companies fleeing that town is longer than the list of Kat’s exes and according to The Wall Street Journal, hotels in San Fran are selling so cheap, crack houses are complaining about the declining property values.”
Emphasizing that point about the current state of San Francisco and what has gone very very wrong with it, Gutfeld said, “They turned a city with beautiful weather and an economy worth billions into a third world hellhole where the only hope is an earthquake, it’s Mogadishu, but with seafood.”
