Since being diagnosed with dementia in February, Bruce Willis has stayed out of the spotlight, and for the most part, out of public. His condition, frontotemporal dementia, is usually undetectable until it has progressed too far for treatment. In Willis’ case, the signs were there, but it wasn’t detected until he had deteriorated too much to continue acting.
Since then, Willis has lived a closely guarded life, rarely appearing in public. It is becoming increasingly clear that Willis is declining rapidly, with no treatment available. It is a sad situation, but Bruce got some good news recently; he became a grandpa.
Willis shares three daughters with actress Demi Moore, and he still has a very close relationship with his ex-wife despite both remarrying and having other children. Willis’ daughters, Scout, Rumer, and Tallulah, have been by their father’s side through his ordeal, and now Rumer has given him a grandchild.
Willis has two daughters with his current wife, Emma Heming Willis, but this is his first grandchild. Recently, Rumer got to get a picture of her ailing father and her new daughter, Louetta Isley. She said: “Seeing my father hold my daughter today was something I will treasure for the rest of my life. His sweetness and love for her was so pure and beautiful.”
Willis and her partner Derek Richard welcomed the baby girl they call “Lou” last month. She also lavished praise on her partner: “Happy 1st Father’s Day. Thank you for building a beautiful garden for Lou to play in and eat from. I’m so grateful our girl has a papa that loves her so much and someone so goofy and weird so she knows that’s ok for her to be too. Thank you for the greatest girl I could imagine in my wildest dreams. We love you.”
The entire extended family has rallied around Bruce as his condition worsens. Back in February, his wife Emma posted a heartfelt tribute for his 68th birthday and reminisced on their life together despite the fact that looking back on their life is “like a knife in my heart,” considering his current condition.

Willis, widely regarded as one of the best people in Hollywood and the star of some of the most iconic action movies of his generation, has managed to maintain a peaceful relationship with Demi Moore, and his daughters have grown up to be good people as a result.
Rumer Willis spoke more of her father: “Papa I’m so lucky to have you and so is Lou. Thank you for being the silliest, most loving, coolest Daddio a girl could ask for. Best Girl Dad in the game….”
Bruce Willis may not have much time left, but surrounded by his family, he is living it to the best of his ability. His good work as a father has translated to his daughters. In an age where too many fathers simply give up or don’t care, Bruce Willis pulled off the rare feat; he is a huge Hollywood star that actually hasn’t screwed up his kids. Best wishes for Bruce and his new granddaughter.
