According to Zaid, an immigrant from Afghanistan who moved to San Francisco to restart his life with his family, San Francisco is now worse than Afghanistan or Iraq in terms of crime and livability. Zaid made that remark after thieves broke into his small business and made off with nearly $100,000 of his property, about $80,000 of which was in merchandise and $20,000 of which was in cash.
Making his point, Zaid told Fox News Digital after the robbery that “The politicians need to get a grip on this because It’s worse than Afghanistan or Iraq.” He then noted that the Taliban, for all its many faults, took crime seriously, unlike American politicians. In his words: “At least in Afghanistan the Taliban will cut your hand off and people are afraid to commit such a crime.”
Not so in San Fransisco, where no one in the criminal class seems the least bit afraid of committing a crime. Speaking about how the half dozen criminals that broke into his business had around 20 minutes to ransack the place and steal every last thing from it, he said: “They know the police won’t do anything.”
Then, describing the general problems in San Francisco that are making it an unlivable city, Zaid said, “We have drugs issue, we have homeless issue, and on top of this these idiots come in here and take whatever they want.”
Continuing, Zaid noted that this is by far the worst state he’s ever seen the city in. In his view, it started going severely downhill during Covid but, rather than rebounding, things have only gotten worse in the post-Covid pandemic years. “The city has gone downhill, especially the last 2 years since COVID, I’ve never seen it worse. People are afraid to come shopping here because they are either going to get robbed or someone will break into their car,” he said.
He then added that he and his family might have to leave San Francisco before it’s too late, saying that he is considering closing the store he has owned since 2003. In his words: “We might have to shut it down. Our safety is more important than making a living in this city.”
Here’s the sickening video of brazen thieves ransacking Zaid’s small business:
The crime problem has indeed gotten worse in San Fransisco. According to the SFPD crime statistics, there has already been a 25 percent jump in homicides in 2023 compared to 2022, with other crimes shooting up as well. For example, robberies increased by 17 percent over 2022 and arson has increased by 7 percent.
That comes alongside the homeless and drug situation that is continuing to plague the city, with drug-connected deaths for the first quarter of 2023 increasing by 41 percent over 2022. Fentanyl has proven particularly problematic for the city, ravaging the drug-addicted homeless population and leading to many deaths.
Unfortunately for Zaid and others, there appears to be no end in sight, as the city’s leftist politicians appear committed to the same policies that have led the city to this point.
