Five individuals have been arrested and named suspects in the recent attack on 7-eleven workers in Texas. According to authorities, the attack occurred after the employees of the gas station refused to sell a cigar to a customer, who was a minor. Following that denial, the store clerk was mobbed.
According to police from the Mesquite Police Department, the June 3 incident took place on Faithon P. Lucas Boulevard. Among the five individuals who were arrested, two were adults and three were minors. Video of the gruesome incident was shared to Twitter by the account, Dallas Texas TV, and can be viewed in the pop up below:

Puches can be seen being lobbed at the employee by multiple assailants, who were allegedly identified by the video above. The Mesquite Police Department Facebook account offered a brief release to inform residents that arrests had been made.
“The two adult suspects arrested from this incident were identified as Ahliyah Turner, a 19-year-old female from Garland, Texas, and Kiara Beale, a 21-year-old female from Dallas, Texas,” the release said. “Beale is being charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. Turner is being charged with warrants from another agency.”
Along with the adults, three unnamed juveniles were also charged for their alleged actions regarding this incident. The release read, “Three juveniles were also identified and charged. Their offenses include two counts of assault, criminal mischief, and theft. Identities of these subjects are being withheld due to their juvenile status.”
Folks in the comments of that Facebook post were understandably upset that such a violent crime took place in their town, and were incredibly supportive of the police who caught the perps. One such user said, “Hope those people get what they truly deserve JAIL time.”
Another questioned why the group involved a mix of adults and juveniles, saying, “Why are adult females hanging with minors ??? I hope they both enjoy that lockdown time. Treat them like they requested.”
Events like this have seemingly become commonplace in some neighborhoods, as attacks and blatant robberies in retail stores are captured on video nearly every day. A hard crackdown on this kind of deviance is necessary, and The Mesquite Police Department wasted no time in taking these suspects off the streets before they were able to harm another clerk in the area.
Entitlement seems to play a crucial role in this case. A group of kids and young adults who come from a generation where they never were told “no” could not handle that a 7-eleven clerk refused an illegal sale of a cigarette. To some, the rules simply should not apply equally. Sure, rules should apply to others, but why should they also be enforced on me?
Be it through media or education, a national sense of responsibility needs to be restored for issues like this to cease.
