Star actor Tyrese Gibson has added his voice to the growing chorus of Hollywood mainstays who are begging the movie industry to stop “trying to normalize the Devil.” The ‘Fast and Furious’ star was vocal about his discontentment with the way that Hollywood has handled Christian stars and the ostracization that sometimes occurs when actors become too loud about their faith.
While giving an interview to promote the most recent installment in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, “Fast X,” Gibson took some time to address the growing divide in Hollywood between believers and non-believers. In an interview with BigBoyTV which was posted to Twitter, Gibson said,
“As much as I’m supposed to be promoting this movie and talking about my album, I just feel like we’re in competition right now because they are trying to normalize the devil. The devil is on the main stage at award shows and in every video — signs and symbols.”

Gibson then went on to say that stars in Hollywood need to begin treating their relationship with Jesus as seriously as any other dealing in their lives, “And I say you know what? We need to stop treating our relationship with Jesus like the little buddy that you talk to before you go to bed at night, and not be more vocal about all the things that God means to us and all of the things that God has brought us through.”
Gibson is feeling much of the same frustration that Christian media consumers all over America are feeling. A growing demonization of religion and ever-increasing odes to the devil have taken over modern media. Gibson finished his rant, saying, “They goin’ above and beyond to promote the devil and it’s pissing me off. The devil worshippers used to be real secretive — going down in the basement, the secret world.”
This sentiment is no doubt shared by many fans of the upcoming movie and, despite what executives in Hollywood would like to believe, will likely increase the box office earnings of the new Fast and Furious film. This same phenomenon has been shown with other stars, mainly Chris Pratt, whose outward displays of love for Jesus have catapulted him into more than just a talented actor for many fans.
For many, there is a special connection that can be felt when watching a movie where the lead shares similar moral and religious beliefs as the viewer. This growing trend across the movie industry has led to the blossoming of the Christian film genre, which saw massive success in 2022 and has continued its momentum into 2023. With any luck, these bold displays of public faith will begin to embolden others in Hollywood to voice their real thoughts and to continue to push society back toward Christian values.
