A Republican member of the House of Representatives has introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles introduced the articles, claiming Biden has “weaponized” the presidency under his current administration and when he served as vice president under Barrack Obama. He alleges this was done to protect the Biden family from being held accountable for their “business and influence peddling schemes.”
Furthermore, the impeachment articles allege Biden has betrayed the Constitution and the trust of the American public, particularly with his handling of the southern border crisis. Rep. Ogles claims Biden acted in a “manner contrary to the public trust and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”
The impeachment brought against Kamala Harris calls out her inability to perform her duties as vice president effectively and her incompetence in mitigating the southern border crisis. The articles against Harris accuse her of “extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities and an indifference to Americans suffering as a result of America’s ongoing southern border crisis.”
Ogles has doubled down on his claims that Joe Biden has failed the country through his poor leadership and has violated the Constitution. “Joe Biden hasn’t just failed the American people with his abysmal excuse for ‘leadership’ — he’s violated his sworn oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Ogles said.
The Republican continued to slam Biden’s alleged weaponization of the government to cover up his family’s business dealings. An FBI informant has provided allegations that Joe and Hunter Biden were involved in a bribery scheme in 2015 and 2016. Recently, the FBI provided the House Oversight Committee Republicans access to transcripts of interviews with this informant amid their investigation into the Biden family. The allegations suggest Joe and Hunter were paid $5 million to aid a Ukrainian natural gas company executive in disrupting a corruption investigation.
“Joe Biden has repeatedly abused his position of power, both as vice president and president, to cover up his illicit family business dealings and exploitation of taxpayer resources,” Ogles continued. The Tennessee Congressional member further stated the Department of Justice could not be trusted to conduct an honest investigation into Biden and that it was necessary for Congress to step up and hold the president accountable.
Soon after the news broke that the House Oversight Committee would receive the transcripts of the FBI informant, Biden’s Department of Justice announced it would be indicting former president Donald Trump in relation to the classified documents case. The timeline of these events has aroused suspicion among some conservatives.
Republicans have recently rallied and doubled down on calls to impeach Joe Biden in light of the new evidence that has surfaced against the president. Conservatives have argued that now is the time for Republican politicians to take meaningful political action instead of useless investigations leading nowhere. However, the articles of impeachment introduced by Rep. Ogles face a challenge ahead in the House of Representatives.
