Recently, Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson called into question President Biden’s health following his high-profile fall at the Air Force Academy commencement ceremony last week. Jackson was a former White House physician under the Trump and Obama administrations, giving credit to his assessment of the president’s faculties.
Jackson claimed that Biden isn’t “mentally or physically” capable of fulfilling the duties as the nation’s leader. He told Fox News, “I don’t wanna sound like a broken record, but I’m just going to say it again: This man’s not fit mentally or physically to be our president, and it’s a bad situation for us.” The GOP representative went on to claim that Biden’s fragile state fails to show confidence and power, something necessary for the President of the United States.
The Texas GOP member explained how the president’s mental and physical state has been in continual decline for some time. He explained, “I think his lack of physical ability and his physical decline is now starting to highlight the cognitive decline that we’ve been watching for so long now.”
Jackson also insinuated this is a national security issue given the role the U.S. president has on the global stage, especially given the contentious geopolitical backdrop the world is currently experiencing. Others have voiced their concerns about Biden’s control of our nuclear weapons amid his apparent cognitive decline. Conservative commentator Rogan O’Handley, also known as DC Draino, called out Biden’s mental and physical capabilities on Twitter. He stated, “NEW: After his humiliating fall yesterday, Joe Biden has now hit his head on Marine Force One This guy wouldn’t be qualified to drive a school bus, yet he’s controlling our nuclear weapons?”

Another issue Jackson pointed out was Biden’s future age if he were hypothetically to be reelected in 2024. Biden is currently 80 years old and, if reelected for a second term, could be 86 and still serving in the Oval Office. Jackson slammed the idea of Biden holding the presidency for another six years, calling it “malpractice.” The representative also criticized those around Biden in the West Wing claiming they are not acting in his best interest given his decline and should be held accountable. Jackson stated we had reached a point where the president “needs a walker” to get around at public events, discussing how embarrassing that image is for the country.
Earlier this year, Jackson sent a letter among Republicans in the House of Representatives which called for Biden to complete a comprehensive cognitive assessment or drop out of the 2024 presidential campaign. The letter called for the president to resign or publicly release the results of a “clinically validated cognitive screening assessment.”
The most recent incident sparking concerns over Biden’s health was his horrendous fall while addressing the commencement ceremony at the Air Force Academy last Thursday. However, this is nothing new, as the first half of the Biden administration featured endless gaffes and mishaps from the Commander-in-Chief. Biden’s age is undoubtedly an issue many voters are concerned about moving into the 2024 election. It will be interesting to see if it is a topic Trump and other Republican contenders campaign on.
