Woman Tries To Pet Bison In Yellowstone National Part, Almost Gets Gored To Death

The old Vonnage phone commercials said it best.

    People do dumb things.

A prime example comes from video footage shared on major social media platforms that was taken in May showing the moment a woman decided she would try to pet a bison, which almost became a death sentence after the animal attacked her. The incident happened in Yellow Stone National Park.

According to a report from the Daily Caller, “The video, credited to Russ Bjorn, shows a woman reaching out to touch a bison near a pathway through the iconic U.S. national park. She appears to be at the very end of a group of people, and for some reason thought it was a good idea to reach out and try to pet the enormous wild animal.”

Upon first glance it seems as if the gigantic wolly animal is about to allow the woman to pet it, but with lightning speed, the bison starts to charge her. It’s not clear from the video footage whether the animal nudged her or launched a full-on attack after receiving the unwelcome attention.

This is hardly an isolated incident.

In fact, between the months of May and July of 2022, there were three individuals who visited Yellowstone National Park that were gored by a bison, according to a report from LiveScience.  In one of those now infamous incidents, a woman was tossed 10 feet in the air and sustained serious injuries. Bison are no joke. They are wild animals, not friendly, docile, domesticated pets.

“The Instagram page TouronsOfYellowstone shared several other videos of people getting way too close and friendly with the huge beasts. In one, a woman was standing extremely close to a huge bison. According to the clip, she stood taking selfies for ‘like 10 minutes,'” the Daily Caller said.

Let’s hope the woman in the video learned her lesson.
