One suspect has been arrested and another remains on the loose in connection with the vicious killing of a 19-year-old during a home invasion in Acworth, Georgia. Both of those men face charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and first-degree burglary in connection with the burglary and murder.
The Acworth Police Department announced the murder and suspects in a post and subsequent series of updates on Facebook. First, the department said, “On May 17, 2023, officers with the Acworth Police Department responded to 3091 Cobb Parkway, Apartment 1532 in reference to a possible home invasion and person shot call. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The identity of the victim is being withheld, pending notification to the family. Detectives with the Acworth Police Department are actively working the scene and gathering information from witnesses.”
Shortly afterward, the department added, “The Acworth Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to actively investigate this case. The victim has been identified as Aiden Kane Shaw (19 YO W/M) of Kennesaw.”
Then, on May 24th, roughly a week after the burglary and murder, the department announced, “The Acworth Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to actively investigate this case. Detectives have secured arrest warrants on two suspects. They are identified as David Bernard Travis and Jaiden Lajuan Colon-Crawford. Colon-Crawford is currently in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and is being held without a bond.”
In that update the department also gave descriptions of both suspects and the crimes with which they have been charged, saying:
