Morgan Wallen’s most recent brand partnership was a wowing success. Following a tumultuous couple of years for the country star, brands finally appear ready to hitch their wagon to one of the most famous artists in the world.
Wallen teamed up with the Ryl Company to help sell their canned iced tea, and the product proceeded to sell out in short order. In an Instagram post, Wallen wrote:
“Told y’all something sweet was coming soon… introducing my very own Sweet Tea.
“Ryl Tea and I worked hard to capture the taste I remember from my childhood. It took time, but it was well worth the wait. I love this sweet tea and the fact that it’s healthy makes it all the better. This tea takes me right back to my Mamaw’s front porch on a hot summer’s day.”
It only took a few hours for the product to sell out, showing that while some brands may be shy about working with Wallen following his past controversies, the singer commands a massive audience on social media. For those out of the loop on the Morgan Wallen controversy, Rob Mattox of The American Tribune wrote this about the incident and the following backlash:
“When Morgan Wallen drunkenly uttered the “n” word at one of his friends after a night of hard partying in Nashville, many thought his budding career was over. Wallen subsequently attempted to apologize to appease the woke mafia, and took some time off from music.
“Of course, his record label and country music radio cowardly did what the left demanded and suspended all of Wallen’s music and dropped him from touring. It didn’t matter that Wallen was talking to his white friend at the time, the damage was done.
“Or maybe not. Country music fans like what they like, and they liked Morgan Wallen. His sales went through the roof, and since ultimately it’s all about the money and not really the virtue, his label and country radio took him back with open arms, much to the pearl clutching and salty tears of leftists everywhere. Now, with his latest album being a gargantuan, 36 song success, his latest number one, “Last Night” has prompted lefties in the media to take aim once again and attempt to downplay Wallen’s success.”
Wallen went on an apology tour following the incident, speaking with leaders of the black community and donating to organizations that help their cause. None of that was enough to erase the smear of one word uttered on a drunken night. That being said, Wallen has continued to own up to his mistake and has not let it get in the way of his wowing success in song plays and album sales. According to TMZ, Wallen was immediately apologetic following the release of that video, saying:
“I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”
