Pastor Greg Laurie took time to share why the story of the hit film “Jesus Revolution” resonated so strongly with the large audience that it reached.
According to Harvest Christian Fellowship Pastor Greg Laurie, the true story behind the “Jesus Revolution” shows the importance of faith, especially Christianity, in times when American culture is struggling to survive. On “Fox News Tonight,” Laurie spoke to Kayleigh McEnany, saying:
“Many thought that it was perhaps the demise of our country, but people were talking about a sexual revolution, they were talking about a political revolution — and God sent a Jesus Revolution.”
Laurie also added that many more young Americans are ready to hear the gospel and that as an evangelist it is his job to give them the opportunity:
“Our job is to bring hope. Our job is to bring help. Our job is to bring people to the Lord. That’s what I do. I’m an evangelist…”
“…Generation Z is very interested in spiritual things. I just read an article recently where it said that over 50% are very interested in Jesus, knowing more about Jesus, and this is the key: This was not a religious revolution, it was a Jesus Revolution where people were turning to God and having an encounter with them.”
“That’s what happened to me. My life was changed. I was going the wrong way fast, but my life was turned around because of a relationship with Jesus Christ, and he’s still in the life-changing business.”
According to The American Tribune, “Jesus Revolution” was a massive hit, both at the box office and in reviews. They wrote:
Jesus Revolution has swept across America’s movie theaters with wowing success. Now, with the numbers surrounding its excellent debut being made public, it is clear that religious dramas have a place in American entertainment. With Christian families clamoring for more films that fit their views and morals, more and more films of this nature will indeed begin production.
With Kelsey Grammer starring, the film has seen a domestic gross income of over $41 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Jesus Revolution is entering its fourth-week post-release and has seen a level of success that few could have predicted in the industry. According to the DC Enquirer, the film’s total budget was only $15 million.
The article also added that:
Jesus Revolution was more than just a financial success. Audience absolutely loved the film. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently has a wowing 99% audience score, putting it alongside some of the greatest films of all time. There may very well be a day in the not-so-distant future that we look back on Jesus Revolution as the moment that Hollywood began producing Christian films again.
