A legal defense fund created for Daniel Penny on an online contribution site has raised nearly $2.5 million. The funds will cover the legal fees of the U.S. Marine veteran who faces a second-degree manslaughter charge after Jordan Neely died on the New York City subway from a chokehold.
According to the fundraising site:
Daniel Penny is, a twenty-four-year-old college student and decorated Marine veteran, facing a criminal investigation stemming from him protecting individuals on a NYC subway train from an assailant who later died. Funds are being raised to pay Mr. Penny’s legal fees incurred from any criminal charges filed and any future civil lawsuits that may arise, as well as expenses related to his defense. All contributions are greatly appreciated. Any proceeds collected which exceed those necessary to cover Mr. Penny’s legal defense will be donated to a mental health advocacy program in New York City.
***All funds will be sent to and managed by the law offices of Raiser & Kenniff, P.C***
Many donors on the site left supportive comments for the veteran. One anonymous donor said, “Thank you Daniel Perry for your heroic service to our country. You are a good man and we stand by your side!” Clearly, the donor meant to say “Penny” and is likely confusing the name with Daniel Perry, the Texas man recently convicted of murder for shooting a BLM protestor. Perry claimed he acted to defend his life, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott has pledged to pardon him.
Another donor commented on Penny’s legal fund, This is a crime to prosecute this man. He did the right thing for the right reason and if the Justice System had prosecuted the man and gotten him treatment this would not have happened. Blame the legal system not this Marine! Prayers for you Daniel!”
Kid Rock also made headlines by donating $5,000 to Penny’s defense fund and slammed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. The musician commented, “Mr. Penny is a hero. Alvin Bragg is a POS.”
Other conservative personalities, such as Tim Pool, have stepped in to support Daniel Penny. Pool tweeted,“I just donated $20,000 to Daniel Penny’s Defense fund Penny is the Subway Good Samaritan and we are lucky to have brave souls like him who are willing to do the right thing I will elaborate on my position in my morning segment at 10am.”

Ron DeSantis weighed in as well tweeting, “We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left’s pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law abiding citizens. We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny. Let’s show this Marine… America’s got his back.”

Amiri King shared a tweet stating, “I’ve been in touch with Daniel’s team. He’s obviously been down. The support you all are showing is lifting his spirits. Don’t let DA Alvin Bragg’s bullshit go unnoticed. Jordan Neely only received 4 months for attempting to kidnap a 7 year old little girl. Daniel Penny is facing a maximum of 15 years for yeeting that piece of shit. Comment below your support for Daniel. I’ll make sure he sees it. Semper.”
