The liars – excuse me, the ladies – of The View took turns to “punish” Ron DeSantis for “punishing their parent company:” Joy Behar: “Ron DeSantis is punishing our parent company, Disney, for speaking out against his so called ‘don’t say gay’ law.”
First off, you may have noticed that the media has changed their talking points on HB 1557. They are now calling it “so-called ‘don’t say gay’ law.” After their “don’t say gay” narrative blew up in their face, they are now pretending they have no idea how the bill got its catchy moniker.
But we’ll go back to Joy Behar’s spiel: “He revoked Disney’s special tax status, which could cost Florida taxpayers 2 billion dollars.” Here is Ron DeSantis, assuring us that unlike the “brilliant” business minds behind CNN+, he will not force Florida residents to pay for crap:
“Trust me, under no circumstances Disney will not pay their fair share of taxes.”
Then we heard from Ana Navarro, who peddled so much bullsh^t I needed to call the Roto-Rooter:
“How can you call… against canceling conservatives if you want to cancel one of the major corporations in Florida for freely speaking their mind.”
For someone who cancels people for a living, Ana Navarro calling sanctions against Disney “canceling” is quite rich. Nobody “canceled” Disney: unlike Gina Carano, Disney CEO is still getting his paycheck. Disney’s punishment is simply making them operate by the same rules every other business in Florida does. What Ana Navarro calls “canceling,” Bernie Sanders calls “paying their fair share.”
But the liberals are now up in arms for Disney’s right to “freely speak their mind” – the same right Disney is denying to their own employees. Nobody “denied” Disney the right to speak their minds. Here they are, freely expressing their disagreement with HB 1557, and getting this response from Ron DeSantis:
“We are standing for the kids, and we are standing for the parents. And I will tell you this: the chance that I will back down from my commitment to students, and back down from parents’ rights simply because of the fraudulent media narratives, or pressure from the woke corporations, is zero.”
Ana Navarro: “It wasn’t like they want to have all out war against this bill. The CEO made a few statements… This was minimal.”
Here are “a few statements” from Disney that Ana is referring to:
“Florida’s HB 1557, also known as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law. Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts, and we remain committed to supporting the national and state organizations working to achieve that. “
Disney is wowing to invest millions of dollars to sabotage the state that awarded them special privileges to operate their business in the most profitable way. The state of Florida must use its time and resources to fight the lawsuits financed by Disney, to defend a legally passed law that its residents fully support. No big deal, in Ana Navarro’s book.
Ron DeSantis took issue with “the minimal” nature of Disney’s statement: “For Disney to come out and put a statement and say that the bill should have never passed and that they are going to actively work to repeal it, I think one was fundamentally dishonest, but two, I think that crossed the line.”
Here is Sunny Hostin reminding us that the Disney debate, as every debate in this country, comes down to – you guessed it – racism:
“Bigotry is on the ballot when it comes to Ron DeSantis. It’s not anti-Disney. It’s anti-black.”
According to Sunny, a giant corporation price gouging their customers, taking advantage of tax loopholes, and buying favors with political donations is an example of fighting for “social justice” and supporting “marginalized communities.” A trip to Disneyland may now be out of reach for a low-income family, but as long as Disney keeps pushing liberal agenda, they are seen as supporting “marginalized communities” – even if the said communities can’t afford to get into the park. After all, only a racist could oppose Disney’s pushing their “not so secret gay agenda” to pre-school kids.
And finally, Sara Haines is finally admitting that there is an inflation problem. She is not allowed to tell you who caused inflation – her job is to let you know who is to blame:
“We are having the worst inflation in 40 years. People aren’t able to buy groceries right now. And you are going to hit them with a tax that won’t affect you?”
Here is Ron DeSantis filling in the gaps left by Sara: “You go back last year, they said inflation wasn’t a worry even though a lot of us were saying that this was gonna be a problem when you’re printing trillions and trillions of dollars. The idea that you can just do that infinitum without there being any consequences was completely foolhardy.”
Here is Ron DeSantis’ final answer: “Everything we did to protect people’s freedoms, and livelihoods, and jobs, and businesses, and our kids’ education – we faced huge pushback from the corporate press and from political opponents every step of the way. My job as a leader is to accept all that in order to stand up for the people that I represent. I cared more about their livelihoods, their freedoms, their jobs, and their businesses, then about getting negative attention heaped on me.”
And that “negative attention” will not stop. The “Killing DeSantis” saga continues.
