A murderous rampage at the hands of a repeat violent offender, courtesy of Los Angeles’ woke DA George Gascon, left a man dead and a family without their father after a woman with a history of attacking people with knives was free on the streets
According to Fox News’ Bill Melugin, who offered a lengthy post on Twitter detailing the events, Jade Simone Brookfield has been charged with the murder of Dennis Banner. Unbeknownst to Banner, he was dealing with a psychopathic killer when confronting her on the street over an escalation with unknown origins.
Melugin posted the woman’s lengthy violent past, all of which was ignored by the corrupt District Attorney when he repeatedly let her return to her criminal ways without so much as a small jail sentence.

“A Los Angeles father was allegedly stabbed to death last month by a woman w/ a violent history of using knives. She had multiple arrests, including violent felonies, but always avoided prison under prosecutions by LA DA Gascon & received diversion or release instead,” Melugin wrote on Twitter.
“Per law enforcement sources, Jade Simone Brookfield was charged w/ attempted murder in 2020 after she stabbed a woman in the chest, puncturing her lung. In 2021, her charges were reduced to assault with a deadly weapon, still a violent felony. But instead of prison, Brookfield was given mental health diversion. She absconded & was terminated from the program, then was allowed to re-enroll and was given another chance,” he continued.
Melugin went on to write that Brookfield, after escaping any sort of real consequences for her attempted murder in 2020, was arrested twice more in 2021 for serious offenses. She was again not charged with anything despite the harrowing details.
“In 2021, Brookfield was arrested twice. Once for battery on a peace officer. She received mental health diversion and the case was dismissed. The second time, she was arrested for criminal threats after she allegedly assaulted a man, pulled out two knives, and threatened to kill him. DA Gascon’s admin rejected the case due to lack of evidence,” the Fox reporter wrote.
“In March 2023, while still on diversion from her first knife attack, Brookfield was arrested again for another felony assault with deadly weapon after I’m told she repeatedly swung a knife at a bus driver who missed her exit. Inexplicably, she was then ordered released from custody with an ankle monitor. That decision had deadly consequences,” he added.
Melugin finished his thread by commenting on the tragedy that befell Banner, saying:
Just weeks after her release, in April, Brookfield was arrested again for murder, after sources tell me she fatally stabbed a man named Dennis Banner during an argument in a street. Her diversion has now been terminated, and only now is she finally being held in custody.
Sources in LA DA office tell me this case is a prime example of what can happen when California’s loose mental health diversion policies combine with Gascon’s soft on crime approach to seek diversion when possible.
Melugin finished by offering an alleged quote from Gascon’s office.
“We appreciate the public concern when someone is participating in a mental health program and allegedly commits a serious crime. Our prosecutors make the best decisions they can in light of all the available information. Our heart goes out to all the victims in this matter, and we stand ready to support them on their journey to healing,” the statement read.
