DA Bragg Gets More Terrible News: NYC City Councilman to Turn on Him, Testify Against Him

DA Bragg stirred up the hornets’ nest with his attempt to prosecute former President Trump on 34 felony falsifying business records counts. Though the GOP unfortunately has little real power to wield against him, it does control the House and is using the subpoena and investigatory power it has because of that to try and make his life miserable.

Now they’re doing so with today’s (Monday, April 17th) hearing on the impact of soft-on-crime policies of the sort pushed by district attorneys like Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg (D. That “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan” hearing will take place on Monday and, during it, one of the witnesses who will testify is Councilman Bob Holden. Holden, a Democrat, represents part of Queens. The hearing is meant to show “how Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s pro-crime, anti-victim policies have led to an increase in violent crime.”

“I have an issue with some of the DAs in New York City, and certainly Bragg is one of them,” the New York City councilman told Breitbart. “I have an issue with soft-on-crime politicians and DAs, so, you know, I offered. I said, ‘Look, I have a view of this that’s different from my Democratic, or most of my Democratic colleagues, so I would say that obviously there’s issues why New York City is the way it is.”

Holden, speaking to Breitbart about the issue, recalled witnessing crime finally improve beginning with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. However, he noted that those hard-won gains began to crumble in the last couple of years, particularly after the state implemented a sweeping bail reform law in 2020.

Speaking about that, he said, “I remember the city turning around, and we had I think it’s 17 straight years of decline in crime until the bail reform, and then you couple that with DAs like Bragg and it’s a bad, bad recipe there.”
