Things went from bad to worse for a Mississippi man when, on Friday, the police found a handgun stuffed in a quesadilla from Taco Bell after pulling him over for a traffic stop.
According to WLOX, a local news site, the perp, Devin P. Mitchell, tried hiding the gun by folding it into a quesadilla when police in the town of Picayune stopped him and the car’s driver, Olivia Neff, for a traffic violation.
Apparently, the police saw Mitchell attempting to stuff something into the Taco Bell quesadilla and they then used that probable cause to search the vehicle, at which point they found the gun hidden in the quesadilla.
Things then got even worse for Mitchell. In addition to the charge related to his illegal possession of a handgun, as police found far more than just a Saturday Night Special type handgun tucked away in a quesadilla. They also found methamphetamine, liquid heroin, and drug paraphernalia during their search of the car. WLOX, reporting on that, said:
A traffic stop on East Canal Street in Picayune led to a surprising discovery for officer with Picayune PD.
At around 12:38 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the passenger, Devin P. Mitchell, hid a handgun inside of a folded quesadilla in a Taco Bell bag. Officers then carried out a search of the vehicle, finding a distribution amount of methamphetamine, liquid heroin and drug paraphernalia.
So, Mitchell was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of weapon by a felon, and possession of paraphernalia.
Neff, the driver of the car, was not taken into custody over the incident but was charged with disregarding a traffic device. Maybe next time she’ll follow traffic rules if transporting someone with so much contraband…
