Famous evangelist Franklin Graham commended former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines, who recently defended women’s sports. Gaines has used her platform to speak out against the transgender movement, which advocates for allowing biological men to compete in women’s athletics.
Graham wrote to his millions of Facebook followers, “Riley Gaines is a brave voice for women’s rights. The former NCAA and University of Kentucky swimmer speaks out against the unfairness of biological males being allowed to compete in women’s sports.”
Graham addressed a recent incident where Gaines was assaulted and chased by a mob of pro-transgender protestors. He continued in the post, “Riley was at San Francisco State University last Thursday to give a speech about saving women’s sports and she was ambushed and physically assaulted by a man in a dress. She said, “The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man…Still only further assures me I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder.”
He praised her efforts in preserving conservative, Christian values in our country, “Thank you Riley for trying to defend the future of women’s athletics for millions of young female athletes. I hope women—and men—across our country will stand up with Riley against this insanity. This could be your daughter, your granddaughter, your sister, your aunt.”
Gaines told Tucker Carlson she won’t back down after the attack against her, stating, “This does not deter me. This assures me that I am doing the right thing. This will not silence me. When they want me to be silenced, it just means I need to speak louder.” She continued, “It was terrifying. The police did not inform me of any sort of action plan. Turning Point USA invited me to the campus. I delivered a very civil and respectful speech where I had great dialog with even protesters who were participating in a sit-in. All of a sudden, after my speech, the room was stormed, the lights were turned off, and I was rushed with no one there to escort me to a safe place.”
Gaines spoke about having to barricade herself in a safe room to maintain her safety, “I’m OK currently, but an hour and a half later, I’m still barricaded in a room with ambushers on the outside yelling and threatening violence. As police escorted me out of the event space to my current location, I was hit, physically, twice by what I presume was a male individual. This only assures me I’m doing the right thing.”
Many other conservative activists stood up for Gaines, praising her bravery. In response to the violent attack against Gaines, conservative actress Gina Carano said, “This is so disgustingly abusive and harmful and it is encouraging acts of violence against women. “These protestors cannot debate this with logic or words so they resort to bullying and violence. Cowards.”
This country was founded on free speech and the exchange of ideas. However, this recent incident is testing the fabric of our country as wokeness tries to intimidate its enemies into silence.
