Horrific tragedy struck Denton, Texas, on March 23rd when 29-year-old Breanna Dunn and 43-year-old Ronald Calvert Jr., were both murdered in a parked vehicle outside their apartment complex. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the murder on April 4th and 7th,29-year-old Silvester Williams and 29-year-old Benjamin Paul Teal.
Announcing the arrest of the first suspect, Silvester Williams, on April 4th, the City of Denton Police Department said:
Denton PD detectives have arrested 29-year-old Silvester Williams for Capital Murder in relation to last month’s double homicide.
At approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, March 23, officers were dispatched to a shooting call at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Dallas Drive. Upon arrival, officers located two deceased gunshot victims, an adult male and an adult female, in a vehicle. These victims have since been identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 29-year-old Breanna Dunn, and 43-year-old Ronald Calvert Jr.
During the investigation, numerous pieces of evidence linked Williams to the shooting, and connected him to the male victim. This evidence showed they knew one another, confirming this crime was not a random act of violence.
On Monday, April 3, detectives arrested Williams in Lewisville for Capital Murder, for causing the death of two people during the same criminal act.
We would like to extend a thank you to the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force, consisting of Denton PD, the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, and Carrollton PD, for their assistance in taking this suspect into custody.
Then, announcing the arrest of the second suspect, Benjamin Paul Teal, on April 7th, the City of Denton Police Department said:
A second suspect, 29-year-old Benjamin Paul Teal, has been arrested for Capital Murder as part of Denton PD’s continued investigation into last month’s double homicide.
Witnesses reported seeing two suspects flee from the shooting. Numerous pieces of evidence connected the first suspect, 29-year-old Silvester Williams, to the male victim. Following the Capital Murder arrest of Williams on Monday, April 3, interviews and physical evidence led detectives to determine Teal was the second suspect in the double homicide.
On Friday morning, Teal was arrested for Capital Murder in Wichita Falls, for causing the death of two people during the same criminal act.
Denton PD appreciates the Wichita Falls PD, Mesquite PD, and the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force, consisting of Denton PD, the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, and Carrollton PD, for their assistance in these arrests. We would also like to recognize our Major Crimes Unit for their diligent work on this case.
Teal had been arrested before, in Wichita. There he was arrested for aggravated robbery, as the Times Record News reported, saying:
Teal was placed in the Wichita County Jail Friday in lieu of $10 million bail on capital murder charges.
He was one of three men convicted in an aggravated robbery at an apartment in 1300 block of Central Freeway East in Wichita Falls in April 2014. They pointed semi-automatic handguns at the people inside, forced them to the floor and demanded a safe containing drugs. They also stole a television, laptop and a Playstation.
