One year after the tragic death of ex-NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins, a lawsuit has been filed, alleging that Haskins was targeted and drugged before the untimely end of his life. Haskins was hit by a vehicle on a Florida highway in what his attorney called, “a blackmail and robbery conspiracy.”

Attorney Rick Ellsley released a statement regarding the lawsuit which named 14 defendants involved in the April 9, 2022 death of the former Pittsburgh Steeler. Ian Rapport shared a press release from Ellsley, which said:
“As to what occurred in the hours before Dwayne was killed, many questions remain unanswered. It is believed that Dwayne was targeted and drugged as part of a blackmail and robbery conspiracy. In fact, his highly-expensive watch was stolen from him shortly before his death.”
The driver of the dump truck that struck Haskins while he crossed the busy Interstate 595 was named as a defendant in the suit. Ellsley questions why the driver was unable to see and avoid Haskins, while plenty of other drivers claim to have done exactly that:
“The truck driver hit Dwayne with the front left side of the truck. This is directly in front of where the driver was sitting behind the steering wheel. The driver told the police that before he hit Dwayne, he saw Dwayne “ahead of his vehicle” in the center lane.
“The report also confirms that before Dwayne was killed, there were multiple other drivers who were driving in front of and behind the dump truck and saw Dwayne on the roadway and avoided hitting him.
“A few drivers even had time to call 911 and were present in the area before Dwayne was hit.
“There were tail lights, brake lights, and hazard flashers from these cars as well as a bright traffic construction signal board – all of which illuminated Dwayne as the dump truck driver was approaching the area where Dwayne was crossing.
“Many questions remain as to why the truck driver did not avoid hitting Dwayne given the highly visible activity in the area before the impact and the fact that the other drivers did not hit Dwayne. The truck driver’s cell phone records have not yet been disclosed. The report also notes that the driver refused to provide a blood sample to the police at the scene and still has not provided the alcohol test results.”
It is also important to note that the autopsy of Haskins showed a huge amount of alcohol in his system, along with smaller traces of the drugs ketamine and norketamine. His blood alcohol content was listed at .20, according to Fox News.
The popular theory at the time of the accident was that Haskins had run out of gas and was attempting to flag down cars on the shoulder of Interstate 595 after a night out clubbing. The Miami Herald wrote:
“Haskins died of blunt force trauma, and the death was ruled accidental, according to the autopsy report released by the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office. According to the toxicology report, Haskins’ two samples tested positive for alcohol, his blood at .20, another fluid level at .24. The legal blood alcohol content limit in Florida is .08.”
