Late last week, former collegiate swimmer and conservative activist Riley Gaines appeared on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” where she discussed the recent attack from a violent leftist mob at San Francisco State University. Gaines has indicated legal action will be taken against the perpetrators to hold them accountable.
Gaines gave a speech for a Turning Point USA chapter at the university. Following the event, a mob of pro-transgender protestors swarmed the former swimmer, and she had to be escorted by police from the event to ensure her safety. Gaines claims a man assaulted her while she was fleeing the mob and had to spend the night “barricaded” in a safe room.
She told Fox News host Tucker Carlson, “You know, I am worried about my safety. I have to be now. When we have people who are willing to do this, and we know why they’re willing to do this, it is because they don’t have reason, they don’t have logic, they don’t have science, they don’t have common sense on their side. That’s on my side. And so they protrude by violence, whether it’s physical or verbal violence.”
“But what this means for me does not deter me,” Gaines emphasized. “This assures me that I’m doing the right thing. This will not silence me. When they want me to be silenced, it just means I need to speak louder.” Gaines continued to explain how no one in any position of authority in California has stood up to defend her. She said, “Not the Dean of Students, not the Campus Police. I will say the City of San Francisco Police that stepped in did a phenomenal job in escorting three hours later. But I will be pursuing legal action. I will ensure that the people who physically assaulted me, the people who put me in that position, they will face repercussions.”
Gaines further slammed the lack of safety protocols when she said, “It was terrifying. The police did not inform me of any sort of action plan. Turning Point USA invited me to the campus. I delivered a very civil and respectful speech where I had great dialog with even protesters who were participating in a sit-in. All of a sudden, after my speech, the room was stormed, the lights were turned off, and I was rushed with no one there to escort me to a safe place.”
Gaines posted footage of the attack on her Twitter profile, stating, “The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces. Still only further assures me I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder. ”

Gaines spent hours hiding from the mob in a safe room where she said, “I’m OK currently, but an hour and a half later, I’m still barricaded in a room with ambushers on the outside yelling and threatening violence. As police escorted me out of the event space to my current location, I was hit, physically, twice by what I presume was a male individual. This only assures me I’m doing the right thing.”
