A stunning admission by the New York Times revealed that almost half of all children living in poverty in the United States are products of the nation’s unsustainable immigration policies, which have allowed for open routes between impoverished countries and our own.
As Breitbart News related to the shocking Times expose, the sheer amount of unvetted, often illegal, immigration has resulted in a terrifying new reality that there will be countless generations of family poverty as a result of enabling such widespread movement across our open border.
Breitbart wrote:
The United States, through mass illegal and legal immigration, is importing generations of poverty as the children of immigrants now account for 4-in-9 of all poor children living in the nation, the New York Times reveals.
In a report detailing vast poverty rates among the children of illegal and legal immigrants, the Times notes that “more than 40 percent of the country’s poor children are children of immigrants.”
“Roughly 50 percent of those impoverished migrant youth are “anchor babies,” the term given to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens as they are awarded birthright American citizenship despite their parents residing illegally in the nation,” Breitbart added.
“Anchor babies” alone account for roughly 20% of all children living in America who find themselves or their families in poverty.
Going directly to the source, here is how the Times laid out the situation, writing:
Children of immigrants, the fastest-growing group of American youths, have poverty rates more than twice those of other children. That is partly because their families earn less than native workers, but also because they face more barriers to government support. The barriers are largest for children of undocumented immigrants, but families of legal immigrants face obstacles, too.
…
“The more welfare that immigrants use, the more difficult it becomes to afford anti-poverty initiatives for the native-born,” said Steven A. Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that seeks to sharply reduce immigration.
…
Fully 44 percent of poor children have an immigrant parent, according to research by Ms. Acevedo-Garcia, the Urban Institute, and UnidosUS, a Latino advocacy group. Nearly a fifth of poor children have an undocumented parent.
It’s not hard to see how this is a significant problem. It’s also not hard to see the solutions. THe easiest way to lower childhood poverty rates in America is to stem the flow of people crossing the border. Given that 60% – the remaining 6 in 10 children in poverty – were already here, would it not make sense to prioritize their situation first, before pretending to help newcomers?
Unsurprisingly, then, one study from 2019 which focused on California families revealed that immigrant-headed households were nearly twice as likely to rely on American taxpayer support simply to make ends meet. As more and more families settle in the country, this reality is both unsustainable and bordering on unethical.
The study showed that fully 63% of immigrant-headed households relied on welfare, as opposed to “just” 35% of American-born members who identified as the head of the home. As the Center for Immigration Studies displayed in an eye-opening graphic, non-citizen households consumed a huge proportion of tax dollars taken from Americans in support of non-Americans.
In addition to being unstainable and unethical, it’s simply unfair. A country should focus on its own people. No successful nation has ever put the needs of outsiders above the needs of its own.
This used to be common sense.
