Former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines emphasizes that she will not be deterred from the violent attack of pro-transgender protests. Gaines alleges she was assaulted and chased by a mob after giving a speech at San Francisco State University at a Turning Point USA chapter.
Gaines appeared on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” where she maintained that she would not back down from the threatening mob violence. She said, “This does not deter me. This assures me that I am doing the right thing. This will not silence me. When they want me to be silenced, it just means I need to speak louder.” Fox News reported on the incident:
On Thursday, Gaines visited the SFSU chapter of Turning Point USA to give a speech about saving women’s sports, and al hell broke loose, thanks to protesters. The melee led to her being barricaded in a separate classroom for three hours while college police appeared apprehensive to confront the protesters. Eventually, Gaines said, city police appeared and whisked her off campus.
She continued, telling Tucker Carlson, “It was terrifying. The police did not inform me of any sort of action plan. Turning Point USA invited me to the campus. I delivered a very civil and respectful speech where I had great dialog with even protesters who were participating in a sit-in. All of a sudden, after my speech, the room was stormed, the lights were turned off, and I was rushed with no one there to escort me to a safe place.”
“I am worried about my safety. I have to be now when we have people who are willing to do this,” she said. “And we know why they’re willing to do this – it’s because they don’t have reason, they don’t have logic, they don’t have science, they don’t have common sense on their side. That’s on my side.”
Gaines tweeted footage of the event stating, “The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man. This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces. Still only further assures me I’m doing something right. When they want you silent, speak louder. ”

For hours, Gaines had to be barricaded in a safe room to remain safe from the violent woke mob. Gaines said, “I’m OK currently, but an hour and a half later, I’m still barricaded in a room with ambushers on the outside yelling and threatening violence. As police escorted me out of the event space to my current location, I was hit, physically, twice by what I presume was a male individual. This only assures me I’m doing the right thing.”
Other conservative commentators voiced their support for Gaines and disavowed the the violent tactics of the pro-transgender protestors. Actress Gina Carano said, “This is so disgustingly abusive and harmful and it is encouraging acts of violence against women. These protestors cannot debate this with logic or words so they resort to bullying and violence. Cowards.”
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh said, “This is why I have no patience for people on the Right who say that we should leave it to women to defend their own sports and private spaces. Yes they need to speak up, but this is what happens when they do. We are cowards if we leave it to young women and high school girls to face this crazed mob alone,”
