The House Oversight Committee has just, over the objections of those Democrats within it like Rep. Jamie Raskin, stepped up its probe of the Biden Family by issuing subpoenas to the banks it thinks were involved with the Biden family’s business activities.
News on that comes from Fox News Digital, which reported that “the Oversight Committee subpoenaed Bank of America, Cathay Bank, JPMorgan Chase, and HSBC USA N.A., as well as former Hunter Biden business associate Mervyn Yan, asking for financial records.”
Those new subpoenas were attacked by Rep. Raskin, who alleged that Rep. Comer was hiding information from Democrats on the committee, and in a memo sent by the Democrat staff members of the committee. The memo said, “Despite this massive investment of time and resources, Republican efforts on this and other congressional committees have failed to yield any evidence of misconduct by President Biden. Nevertheless, Chairman Comer has issued six document subpoenas for financial records as part of this renewed investigation, several of which have been based on information Committee Republicans know to be false.”
Responding to that criticism, Rep. Comer told Fox News Digital, “Ranking Member Raskin has again disclosed Committee’s subpoenas in a cheap attempt to thwart cooperation from other witnesses. Given his antics with the first bank subpoena, the American people and media should be asking what information Ranking Member Raskin is trying to hide this time. No one should be fooled by Ranking Member Raskin’s games. We have the bank records, and the facts are not good for the Biden family.”
Rep. Comer also accused Rep. Raskin of “playing lawyer” for the Biden Family and attempting to protect it rather than provide oversight of it, saying:
“Ranking Member Raskin is playing lawyer for the Biden family instead of engaging in real oversight for the American people. When the facts don’t go the Biden family’s way, Ranking Member Raskin lodges baseless accusations. But unlike Ranking Member Raskin’s distortions, bank records don’t lie. Just a few weeks ago, when making public the Oversight Committee’s first subpoena to a bank, Ranking Member Raskin tried to brush away the documents as just purchases at Papa John’s and Starbucks, conveniently omitting, as just one example, a Chinese company’s $3 million wire to an associate of the Biden family who proceeded to transfer more than $1 million of it to various Biden family accounts. Given his antics with the first bank subpoena, the American people and media should be asking what information Ranking Member Raskin is trying to hide with his latest distraction. No one should be fooled by Ranking Member Raskin’s games. We have the bank records, and the facts are not good for the Biden family.
“Multiple individuals have approached the Oversight Committee as whistleblowers with a desire to share information confidentially. It should be no surprise that whistleblowers do not trust Ranking Member Raskin. He has revealed himself to be untrustworthy by releasing disingenuous, misleading financial information from the Committee’s investigation. These desperate attacks launched by the Ranking Member will undoubtedly continue, but it’s a sad display that the American people can see through. Instead of throwing a tantrum about the Committee’s oversight, Democrats’ time would be better spent continuing to coordinate with the Biden family to come up with a believable explanation for what the bank records continue to show. As we continue to work to uncover the truth, we will be undeterred by Ranking Member Raskin’s antics.”
