Joe Biden pulled out one of his go-to moves when confronted with an easy, yet politically uncomfortable question by ignoring a reporter and simply laughing her off as if she was the one out of line.
The frustrating moment occurred Tuesday as during a meeting with White House science advisors over apparent concerns over the growing capabilities of artificial intelligence. As the session with journalists was winding down, one female reporter can be heard shouting above the fray toward the 46th president.
“Is the indictment of your predecessor politically divisive?” she asked, to which Biden replied by brushing her off with a condescending smile and laugh. Imagine if Donald Trump did this; he’d be called a toxic white male for rudely ignoring a woman.
Take a look for yourself in the video below.
The reporter did a great job asking a basic question to which we all know the answer. If anything, she could have added a little more meat to the question by also referring to Trump as his chief political rival, which definitely ratchets up the significance of the indictment, but all in all it’s nice to get this stuff out there.
Of course, Biden knows that it’s 100% a political stunt. If he says no, though, he would clearly be lying. If he says yes, then that’s not a good look either. Based on his reaction, he was clearly anticipating the question because he didn’t even bother trying to answer. He immediately brushed it off with his chuckle.
Amazingly, even though the entire moment was caught on tape the White House left it off the offical transcript, according to Fox News. Fox also covered the reason for the presser and meeting, which as previously stated related to the White House’s study of AI.
Fox wrote of the event:
The White House’s official transcript of Biden’s remarks did not include this question or Biden’s response. However, it did include the question prior regarding the risks of artificial intelligence.
A reporter asked, “Mr. President, do you think AI is dangerous?”
“It remains to be seen. It could be,” Biden answered.
Biden, as well as his White House, has avoided discussing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s indictment against Trump since it was first officially announced last Thursday. By Friday, Biden said, “I have no comment on Trump” to Fox News.
And if Biden’s response was bad enough, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre provided an even more unbelievable explanation of the president’s attention and understanding of the historically unprecedented Trump indictment and arraignment.
“We’re not going to comment specifically on the case itself, but, look, the president is going to focus on the American people, like he does every day,” the press secretary relayed to reporters on Tuesday. “This is not something that is a focus for him. He is going to focus on things like making sure that we continue to lower prices for the American people.”
She then added, “Of course, this is playing out on many of the networks here on a daily basis for hours and hours. So, obviously, he will catch part of the news when he has a moment to catch up on the news of the day. But this is not his focus for today.”
Joe Biden is preparing to run in 2024, with the election just 18 months out, and his chief political rival has been arrested for the first time in American history, and everyone is supposed to believe he isn’t paying attention?
It’s hard to tell what’s more infuriating – that the Democrats gaslight the American people so easily and so often or that the American people have no idea Democrats gaslight them so easily and so often.
