An 8-year-old boy in Florida was just arrested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office after a shocking incident in which he allegedly used a knife to attack and cut the throat of another child on Saturday.
The sheriff’s office responded to the call about the attack at about 4:30 in the afternoon. When they arrived, they found a child banging on the front door of the home and crying, saying that he didn’t want to be taken away. The sheriff’s deputies tried putting the child in handcuffs, but he slipped away multiple times before they succeeded. They then ushered him into a patrol vehicle, at which point he assaulted a sheriff’s deputy, kicking him.
The victim child is a 13-year-old foster child who lives at the residence. He claims that he was choked by the arrested 8-year-old, who only let him go after he said he couldn’t breathe. The arrested child then allegedly grabbed a butter knife from the kitchen and swung it at the victim child, cutting his throat. The New York Post reports that then “A neighbor who was present was able to wrest the knife from the child and hand it to a woman who lives at the residence.”
Fox News Digital, reporting on what happened next, added that:
The boy then went to grab a stick and tried to hit the victim, according to the affidavit, but was stopped by multiple juveniles.
The 8-year-old allegedly asked for the knife and said that he was going to “kill everyone” before entering the residence once again to look for another knife.
The 8-year-old was placed under arrest and taken to the Lake County Detention Center.
The affidavit says “It should be noted, the Juvenile Defendant has a past history of violence at the residence and to others. The foster children are in fear of the Juvenile Defendant.”
The 8-year-old now faces numerous charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting a law enforcement officer.
The victim child should survive the vicious assault, as WESH reports, “The victim did not appear to be seriously hurt and he was able to communicate with responding deputies.” The New York Post reported much the same thing, noting that “The 13-year-old foster child who had his throat slashed did not appear to be seriously hurt and was alert and responsive while being interviewed by cops. A deputy speaking to the boy noted a 3-inch laceration on his neck. He was examined by a paramedic but refused transport to a hospital.”
The 8-year-old boy who was arrested in the incident has not been named, nor has a mug shot or other identifier of who he is been released, because he is a juvenile.
