A six-year-old boy from the great state of Texas has passed away after being struck by lightning while he was walking home from school with his dad, who was killed by the same bolt of lightning. This is a very bizarre and tragic story, ladies and gentlemen.
According to a report from Fox News, Grayson Boggs died on Friday, which is weeks after his 34-year-old dad, Matthew Boggs, died as a result of being struck by the lightning bolt.
The father and son were hit by lightning on May 15 at 5 p.m. after Grayson and his 11-year-old brother, Elijah, were dropped off by the bus in Valley Mills. Mr. Boggs was then escorting his children home from the bus stop and when he and his son Grayson, holding hands, went to the right up the driveway and Elijah went left.
That’s when the bolt of lightning hit Mr. Boggs’ body and then, since the two were holding hands, entered Grayson’s. They were both knocked out of their shoes because of the force of the strike, landing face down in their own driveway.
When members of the family rushed to the two victims and rolled Mr. Boggs over, he was already blue. They immediately performed CPR on Grayson as a neighbor began life-saving measures on the father, but to no avail.
The young boy had been battling for survival at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center, located in the city of Temple, Texas, over the last four weeks. Grayson had been placed on a ventilator to help his breathing. Unfortunately, the six-year-old was also suffering from seizures. Doctors then spoke with the family, informing them their son’s condition was not going to improve. They made the difficult decision to take him off the ventilator on Tuesday.
Grayson Boggs passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Friday, according to information posted on a GoFundMe page that was created by a cousin of the victim. The page was started to help the family pay for funeral expenses and has raised over $87,000 as of Sunday.
