Hans Schmidt is a 26-year-old Christian preacher from Arizona who is also a veteran and father of two. He’s now in the hospital, fighting for his life, after he was shot in the head while preaching to passersby on a street corner in the town of Glendale, Arizona.
Apparently, Mr. Schmidt was preaching near the intersection on Wednesday, informing people about a church service that would be held that evening. But then, around 6 in the evening, he was shot in the head by someone who then quickly fled the scene of the crime. Schmidt was rushed to the hospital, where he is struggling to survive.
His wife, asking for the public to provide the police with any information they might have and showing her faith in God above in a post on Instagram, wrote, “My husband was shot in the head yesterday while street preaching on the corner of 51st Ave and Peoria If anyone has any info please contact 911. Thank you for your prayers. Believing God has the final say. I love you so much babe.”
Commenting on the post, people offered their prayers and support, saying things like “Praying for a miraculous healing for your husband, and for comfort for your family during this time. Believing for a miracle!” and “We are praying for God’s complete miracle and God’s hand and strength upon you as you go through this time. Just know there’s a whole lot of us praying!! ❤️”
In another post, this one on Friday morning, Schmidt’s wife added, “I love you my handsome cowboy. Keep fighting papi. We need you!!” Yet more commenters offered their prayers and support, saying, “Linking hearts with you guys in El Alto, Bolivia 🇧🇴. ❤️🙏🏻 Believing God for a supernatural healing miracle and strength for you and your family.”
Gina Winn of the Glendale Police Department, commenting on the horrible tragedy of the situation and also asking the public for help, said, “This is a horrible, horrible event. We have a 26-year-old who is a military man, who was recently married and has two small children. He’s in a critical state.”
Winn added, “51st Avenue and Peoria is a very busy intersection, so we know for a fact that there were people within the area. There were vehicles driving within the area, so we believe there is somebody within the Valley that does know something about what happened. We believe there is someone in the Valley who knows what happened. If you saw an individual or vehicle, you’re asked to call the Glendale Police Department.”

Victory Church, which provides a way to donate to help Mr. Schmidt and his family, originally noted, “Our outreach director, Hans Schmidt was shot while street preaching on Wednesday night (Nov 15th) before service. He is in critical condition and in desperate need of a miracle.”
In a November 16 update, it added, “Hans was taken to the ER where they discovered he had been shot after conducting a CT scan. He began seizing and was intubated. There has been some movement; however, physician’s are uncertain how much is voluntary and began draining fluid from his brain. He remains in critical condition, please continue praying.” Then, on November 17, it gave a bit of good news, saying, “The family is encouraged by what they are seeing. Please continue to lift Hans up in prayer.”
